When Can Puppies Start Eating Treats?
In shortBelcher treats are not for puppies under 3 months. After that, start with easy-crumbling treats broken into tiny pieces, and save hard chews until adult teeth are in — always under supervision.
What to start with
- Easy-crumbling treats — lung and liver that break apart by hand
- Tiny pieces — smaller than a fingernail, as training rewards
- One at a time — introduce new treats one by one and watch the stool
What to avoid
Hard chews like hoof and rib can strain young teeth during teething. And too many treats can crowd out the main food growing puppies need, so keep treats within about 10% of daily calories (how many treats a day).
For a first treat, try light, crunchy lamb lung or horse lung, crumbled small.
